Jane Moubray RDP, Hon. FRPSL (1932-2025)

At the end of 2025 the philatelic world lost a major figure, universally and uniquely popular among her fellow collectors.

Primrose Jane Moubray was the first, and to date only, female President of the Royal Philatelic Society as well as being a Member of its Expert Committee from 1979 to 2022.

In 1997 in recognition of her expertise and many achievements she was invited to sign the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists.

Jane served as an accredited FIP international judge and gave numerous talks to local and specialist societies. Among her many other philatelic awards were the Tapling Medal (1984), London Medal (1991), Tilleard Medal (2000), Lindenberg Medal (2003) and Berliner Philatelisten-Klub Lindenberg Medal (2003 and she was also elected a Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada).

Jane’s exhibit of the 1841 2d. blue, which we are proud to present in this auction, was awarded a Gold Medal at the Filacept 88 exhibition.

With late husband Michael Moubray DL Hon FRPSL, Jane was the joint author of British Mail to Overseas Destinations 1840 to UPU which received the Crawford Medal in 1992. Her exceptional collection of the subject will be offered in our next Specialised Great Britain auction in autumn 2026.
