As London sweltered and sweated in the early summer heatwave, prices were also simmering nicely in the Grosvenor saleroom during the two day British Empire & Foreign Countries auction held on June 15th/16th. It is with great sadness that we must announce that David Boyd passed away on June 10th, peacefully after a long illness.

David was a well-known and highly respected figure in the stamp world. He was a great friend and source of expert advice to many collectors as well as a personal mentor to many of us in the Grosvenor family. He will be greatly missed.

What we learned . .

The two-day Specialised Great Britain auction held at Grosvenor on April 20th-21st showed that the GB market remains fundamentally strong and well supported. Driven strongly by internet bidding the sale achieved a very pleasing £882,324 total.
