Gilbert and Ellice Islands: Ocean Island: Rare incoming censored envelope endorsed ''Raider Mail'' in red crayon, addressed to Mr. & Mrs. Kerridge of the British Phosphate Commission and sent Nov. 22 from Melbourne franked 1d. pair, resealed by red on white ''Opened by Censor/...'' label overstruck by framed ''PASSED BY/CENSOR/V101'' handstamp and with Sydney Jan. 23 1941 datestamp on reverse. This cover was carried on the S.S. ''Triona'' sunk by German surface raiders ''Komet'' and ''Orion'' on Dec. 6 1940. Some mail was salvaged and landed at Emirau Island, New Guinea on Dec. 21 by the ''Orion'', subsequently returned to Sydney and eventually reaching Ocean Island on Mar. 11 1940.
