1840 Mulready and Caricatures and later Printed Envelopes: 1841 (June 4th) printed political cartoon by William Spooner, ''Political Hits No. 11'' and titled ''1855; OR, A SCENE IN PERSPECTIVE'', the cartoon shows a rather portly Queen Victoria and Prince Albert followed by a total of fourteen children which is not that far removed from the nine children the Queen actually gave birth to, and a rather emaciated John Bull, sent in Edinburgh with 1840 2d. blue plate 1 RD, and with red wax seal of the ''NEW CLUB'', endorsed on the reverse 'My dearest little Puckie I send you a specimen of a small family. Your affectionate Pap.', also with black on green ''A LESAGE'' printed label on the inside. A fascinating insight into contemporary feelings towards the Royal Family in the early years of Queen Victoria's reign. Photo.
