374 | Sale number: 22 Treasury Competition Essays: One Penny letter sheet essay from the Northbrook Papers, the front with fancy design printed in black around the border, with panels at top containing the words ''GENERAL'', ''POST'' and ''OFFICE'', the reverse shows a printed royal crest in black and the upper, lower and side flaps with bands of heart shaped motifs hand painted in eight different colours, using a mixture of both oil and watercolour. The lower flap is additionally hand painted ''HALF OUNCE/ONE PENNY'' in black and white. Quite stunning and undoubtedly the most intricate and beautiful of all such essays known.
