1840 1d. black plate 3 bearing AA-BB block of four divided into two pairs and placed at opposite corners of June 19th 1840 wrapper from Dublin to London, tied by neat orange-red Maltese Crosses. Backstamped Dublin diamond datestamp for June 19th and London arrival circular datestamp for June 21st. Most unusual and one of the finest plate 3 multiple uses known, a superb showpiece. 1840 1d. plate 3 DG, just clear to very large margins except just shaved at upper right, on neat, clean uncreased entire letter to Manchester dated June 2nd 1840, tied by fine strike of the black ''Kirkham/Penny Post'', the reverse with light ''PRESTON/JU 2'' c.d.s.; the cover with traces of reduced staining though in no way detracting from this fine, attractive and very rare cover, the use of black ink for cancellation at this date being most unusual.
