Amb. Calais Nov. 2 and next day Bordeaux arrival. In 1863 the ship rate to Great Britain was reduced from 6d. to 4d. per 1/2oz., the island's share being 2d. The cover with Hog family crest and apparently sent by Guy Weir Hogg (1861–1943), Sheriff of St Helena, managing director of Solomon, Hogg & Co. and Consul for Portugal, Sweden & Norway.
