''Discovery'', written by medical officer and biogist William Ingram, mentioning a coaling supply from the James Clark Ross the next day, that would allow the party to ''send a few letters cancelled with our new stamp'' and reports on the visit to Macquarie Island and the state of the crew, including the ship's carpenter, Williams, who has turned out to be ''an old shell shock case'' and is being sent back in a whaler.
