Jersey: 1870 Ballon Monté addressed to St. Helier bearing Napoléon 30c. tied by étoile “25” with Paris Rue Serpente Nov. 9 c.d.s. above and Jersey receiving mark of Dec. 4 on reverse, some imperfections. Probably flown on the “Daguerre” which was brought down by Prussian fire and four of its five bags of mail captured. This item would have been fortunate enough to have been in a fifth bag which was jettisoned over the forest of Ferrières. Photo.
