WALES'' with date slug ''DE 8'' inverted. The letter originated in South Australia and, due to the remoteness from Adelaide, the letter crossed the border into Victoria where it was posted at Portland for carriage by ship to Van Diemen's Land. The Port Phillip District was part of New South Wales until separation when the Colony of Victoria created in 1850. A very rare interesting ''3 Colony'' cross border item. Photo.
